How to hire musicians in Dubai and the Gulf
Hiring live music in Dubai is simple once you know what to decide and what to ask. This guide answers the questions people ask most, in the order they usually come up — from choosing the right kind of musician to confirming the details that make the night run smoothly, in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

What should you decide before you enquire?
Five details shape every recommendation, so have them ready: the date, the venue (and whether the music is indoors or outdoors), the guest count, the moments that need music (arrival, entrance, dinner, first dance, party) and the mood you want in the room.
Also mention anything that changes the line-up from the start: a ladies-only celebration, a cultural tradition such as a zaffa or a sangeet, or a corporate brief with speeches and award moments.
Which type of musician suits your event?
Match the music to what guests will be doing at that moment:
- Ceremony and arrival: a violinist, harpist, cellist or string ensemble
- Drinks and sunset: a saxophonist, acoustic guitarist or oud player
- Dinner: a pianist, jazz trio or singing pianist at conversation level
- Dance floor: a wedding band, a DJ, or a DJ with live sax, violin or percussion
- Arabic celebrations: a traditional Arabic band, Arabic singer or zaffa entrance
- A moment of spectacle: one of our signature music acts
One versatile performer can cover several moments; larger events usually combine two or three acts.
How far ahead should you book?
As soon as the date and venue are fixed. The cooler months, roughly October to April, are the busiest season for weddings and events in the UAE, and Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights go first. Dates around UAE National Day, Christmas and New Year’s Eve, and Eid are also in high demand.
Short notice is not impossible — ask anyway — but booking early gives you the widest choice of musicians.
What should you ask before you book?
A good booking is a clear one. Ask for, or confirm:
- Recent videos of the exact musicians you are booking, not a general showreel
- The line-up in writing: number of performers and instruments
- Timings: number and length of sets, breaks, arrival and sound-check time
- Sound: whether the venue’s system is suitable or a system needs to be brought in
- Space and power needed at the venue, especially for bands and outdoor set-ups
- Repertoire: the songs you want, any you don’t, and whether a special song can be learned
- Dress code and any cultural considerations
- Paperwork: who confirms any permits the event needs — see our permits guide
- What the quote includes: travel, equipment and what happens if the event runs late
How do sound and set-up work?
Most hotels and ballrooms have an in-house sound system and technical team; solo acoustic musicians often need nothing more than a power point, or play unamplified. Bands, DJs and outdoor events usually need a proper sound system and a little time to set up before guests arrive. Share the venue name and the event coordinator’s contact early so technical details can be agreed directly.
What about ladies-only celebrations?
For a ladies-only wedding or gathering, ask for female musicians from the start — female singers, oud and qanun players, violinists, DJs and percussion groups are all available. Our ladies-only wedding guide covers how these evenings are usually planned.
Booking musicians in Saudi Arabia and Qatar
The same steps apply in Riyadh and Jeddah and in Doha. Allow extra lead time when musicians travel from Dubai, and confirm early with the venue what it needs for performers. Saudi weddings have their own traditions, covered in our Saudi wedding music guide.

Questions, answered
How do I hire a musician in Dubai?
Decide the date, venue, guest count, the moments that need music and the mood you want, then send those details to an agency or musician. Ask for recent videos of the exact performers, a written line-up and a quote that states sets, timings, sound and travel.
What is the best musician for a wedding in Dubai?
It depends on the moment: strings or harp for the ceremony, saxophone or oud for drinks, piano or jazz for dinner, and a band or DJ with live instruments for the party. Many weddings combine two or three acts.
Can I hire musicians from Dubai for an event in Riyadh, Jeddah or Doha?
Yes. Allow extra lead time for travel and confirm early with the venue what it needs for visiting performers.
