Music for a sangeet in Dubai
The sangeet is the night of music and dance before an Indian wedding — families perform, friends sing, and everyone dances. With the mehndi and the baraat, it makes up the most musical part of a South Asian wedding. Dubai hosts many of these celebrations, and the right live musicians turn them from a party with a playlist into a night everyone remembers.

The sangeet night
At the heart of the sangeet are the family performances — choreographed dances and songs prepared for weeks. Around them, live music keeps the energy up:
- A Bollywood singer or duet performing classic and current hits, with guests joining in
- Dhol players to launch the dancing — nothing fills a floor faster
- A DJ to play the family performance tracks on cue and keep the party going between live sets
Share the running order of family performances with the DJ in advance, with the exact track and start point for each.
The mehndi
The mehndi, when the bride’s henna is applied, is usually more relaxed. Softer live music suits it: a singer with acoustic accompaniment, a tabla player with a melody instrument, or folk songs that guests can sing along to. For a ladies-only mehndi, a female singer and female musicians keep it intimate.
The baraat
The baraat is the groom’s joyful procession to the wedding, and it belongs to the dhol. Dhol players lead the groom and his family, often with dancing all the way to the venue entrance. Agree the route and timing with the venue — and whether the procession is indoors or outdoors — before the day.
Mixing traditions
Many Dubai weddings bring families from different backgrounds together. A Bollywood singer can include Punjabi, Gujarati or regional songs; a DJ can blend Bollywood with international hits; and a percussionist or saxophonist can play live over the DJ for a show moment. Tell us the families’ backgrounds and favourite songs, and we will shape the music around them.
Planning checklist
- List the events — mehndi, sangeet, baraat, reception — and the music for each
- Send the family performance running order and tracks to the DJ
- Choose the singer’s set list, including any regional songs
- Confirm the baraat route and timing with the venue
- Check stage space, power and sound for each event
- Ask your venue about finishing times and sound limits
