Wedding music in Dubai, moment by moment
A wedding has several musical chapters, and each one asks for something different. The ceremony needs intimacy, the cocktail hour needs warmth without volume, dinner needs a sound that lets people talk, and the party needs energy. Here is how to plan each moment — and which musicians suit it — for a wedding in Dubai or anywhere in the UAE.

1. The entrance and ceremony
This is the moment guests remember, so choose a sound with presence but no clutter. A solo violinist, a harpist or a string duo works for a classic ceremony; a cellist gives a deeper, warmer tone. For many Arabic weddings the entrance is a zaffa — a procession with drummers and singers that brings the couple into the hall.
Pick the entrance song early. If it is a pop song, a pop violinist or singing pianist can arrange it so it feels personal rather than played from a speaker.
2. Cocktail hour and welcome drinks
Guests are arriving, greeting each other and finding drinks. The music should create atmosphere without forcing anyone to raise their voice. Good choices:
- A saxophonist roaming the terrace — the classic Dubai sunset sound
- An acoustic guitarist or acoustic vocalist for gardens and beach venues
- An oud player or qanun player for a distinctly Arabic welcome
- A violin and sax duo if the space is large and lively
3. Dinner
During dinner people want to talk. A pianist, a jazz trio or a harpist fills the room at conversation level. If you want a moment of spectacle between courses, a surprise opera singer — appearing as a waiter or a guest — is a memorable touch.
4. The first dance
Live vocals turn a first dance into a moment. A singing pianist or a singer with backing can learn your song in the right key; send it as early as possible. If you prefer an instrumental, a cello or violin arrangement keeps it intimate.
5. The party
For the dance floor you have three routes, and they combine well:
- A live band or wedding band for full live energy
- A DJ for breadth — every genre, every generation
- A DJ plus a live saxophonist, electric violinist or percussionist — the most popular format at Dubai weddings, because it feels like a show without the space a full band needs
For big reveals — the cake, the couple’s return, midnight — an LED drummer or water drum show gives the night a peak.
Ladies-only receptions
For ladies-only celebrations, every performer — and ideally the technical crew — should be female. You can build a complete all-female line-up: a violinist, cellist or pianist for the early part of the evening, a female Arabic singer or female singer for the celebration, a female oud player or qanun player for Arabic music, and a female DJ for dancing. Tell us the dress code and it will be followed.
Multicultural weddings
Many UAE weddings bring together several cultures. Music is the easiest way to honour them all: a zaffa for the entrance, a Bollywood singer and dhol players for the sangeet, a Russian singer or Persian DJ for the party. Tell us who is in the room and we will suggest the mix.
What to ask before you book
- How long are the sets, and when are the breaks?
- What space and power does the act need, and does the venue have a suitable sound system?
- Can the musicians learn a specific song, and how much notice do they need?
- What will they wear — can it match your theme or dress code?
- Does the venue have sound limits or a finishing time for live music, especially outdoors? Your venue is the best source for this.
- Who coordinates timings on the day — the planner, the venue or us?
What to send us
The date, the venue, the number of guests, the moments you want music for, and the mood. A few songs or artists you love help more than a long brief. We usually reply within minutes on WhatsApp with a shortlist and videos.
Questions, answered
How many musicians do I need for a wedding?
It depends on the moment and the room: one musician is enough for a ceremony or cocktail hour, a duo or trio suits dinner, and a band or DJ-plus-live-musician format suits the party.
Can one booking cover the whole wedding?
Yes. A wedding band can play strings for the ceremony, an acoustic set for drinks and a full set for dancing, or we can combine several acts into one plan.
Can musicians perform outdoors in Dubai?
Yes, ideally in the cooler months or in the evening. Strings and pianos are sensitive to heat and humidity, so shade and an evening slot are best; your venue will advise on outdoor sound limits.
